Stephen H. Mason, DMD
Dr. Stephen H. Mason is a founding dentist and partner at Family Dental Practice of Bloomfield. With 47 years of dental experience, he has the knowledge and skill to offer numerous specialized dental procedures. As one of the founding members of the practice, Dr. Mason has offered outstanding dental care in our office since day one, 45 years ago.
Dr. Mason knew he wanted to be a dentist when he was 15 years old, and he worked diligently to make that dream a reality. Dr. Mason earned his undergraduate degree from Wilkes-College and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. Dr. Mason has certification in three types of dental implant procedures, E4D digital dentistry and has years of experience and training to treat bruxism, TMD, and TMJ.
When he’s not busy doing what he loves—putting a smile on your face—he enjoys spending time golfing, enjoying the beach, and boating with friends and family. He and his wife, Barbara, have three wonderful children, and six grandchildren. He is also proud to say that one of his children, Dr. Jonathan Mason, has followed in his footsteps joining the dental field in 2007. He owns a dental practice in Vermont.

Steven L. Meltzer, DMD
Dr. Meltzer attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs from 1970-74. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was accepted for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa honor fraternity. He received his DMD degree from the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine (located in Farmington) in 1978. Dr. Meltzer attended a residency in Periodontics from 1978-80 at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he received his certification in Periodontology. He served as Chief Resident from 1979-80.
In private practice since 1980, Dr. Meltzer continues to attend dental education courses given by the American Academy of Periodontology in all phases of periodontal and implant treatment. Dr. Meltzer has attended courses and is certified in the Straumann ITI, Nobel Biocare, and 31 implant systems. He has also, attended courses in advanced bone regeneration techniques.
“Our goal at Family Dental Practice is to provide State-of-the-Art, periodontal and implant care.” With the techniques and procedures available today, we can repair the damage of the past, restore health, function, and esthetics. Your comfort is our concern, from local anesthetic (Novocain) to unconscious sedation (being asleep) fear of dental procedures is a thing of the past. Even the most complex procedures can be completed with comfort.
Dr. Meltzer is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society, and the Connecticut Society of Periodontists.
Dr. Meltzer lives in Avon with his wife Susan. He has three children and 2 grandchildren. His daughter Sari lives and works in Atlanta. His son Patrick and daughter Kristina work in business related fields. Dr. Meltzer is retired from the First Company of Governors Horse Guards for the state of Connecticut where he served as Captain, Executive Officer. When not relaxing with his wife and Bichon, he can be found riding horses through the trails of Avon and golfing.
Ankur Jhaveri, DMD
Dr. Ankur Jhaveri is the newest member of the team at Family Dental Practice of Bloomfield. Dr. Jhaveri earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Richmond. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and completed a yearlong general dentistry residency with Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Jhaveri joined the practice directly following the completion of his residency in 2012 and is already proving himself to be a valuable member of the team.
In just under three years, Dr. Jhaveri has participated in continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, digital radiography, oral surgery and more. He is dedicated to treating patients respectfully, and listening to their oral health goals. As he gains experience in general dentistry, he shows a unique aptitude for patient care, and will help you meet any smile goal.
In his spare time, Dr. Jhaveri enjoys giving back to his community. He helps adults preparing to take high school equivalency, provides dental care for underserved populations, and volunteers with numerous community organizations. Dr. Jhaveri loves watching CONN Basketball and playing tennis with friends and family. He also has a hidden talent. Dr. Jhaveri is a trumpeter and enjoys playing both jazz and traditional orchestral styles of music.

Ji Young Lim, DMD
Dr. Ji Young Lim is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her DMD. Not content to rest on her laurels, she continued her education at the University of Maryland, where she earned her Master of Bio Science degree and her Orthodontic Certificate.
She aims to treat each patient as if they were part of her family, taking time to get to know each one’s goals and expectations for orthodontic treatment. She hopes to empower every patient to make informed treatment decisions while they are on their journey to achieving a healthier, more attractive smile.
When Dr. Lim isn’t helping her patients, she uses her free time to travel, hike, read, and watch the Food Network.
Robin Goldberg, DMD
Dr. Robin Goldberg was inspired to become a dentist at age 13 while job shadowing her grandfather, Dr. Bertram Friedman of Moodus Connecticut. She got a huge kick out of watching people's eyes bulge when she answered the question: ‘Little girl, what do you want to be when you grow up?’ by loudly proclaiming that she wanted to be a Dentist like her Poppy. Dr. Goldberg finds that dentistry is a great occupation for anyone who likes to help people using a scientific principle, cool technology, careful attention to detail and a gentle touch. Her patients say that they like how much she cares.
Dr. Goldberg received her DMD degree at University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, which allowed her to combine her interest in Science and Service. She majored in Biological Basis of Behavior as an undergraduate at University of Pennsylvania, B.A. which allowed her to combine her interest in Psychology and Biology.
Her personal interests include participation in her religious community, BEKI of New Haven, Heart Rhythm Meditation, learning new recipes for cooking organic, gluten free food in her electronic pressure cooker, going to the Theater with her husband, Jeffrey Park and bragging about her son who is a student at Olin College of Engineering.
